Last day at Lago Maggiore
Today Paolo and I set off south along the lake through Beveno, Stresa, Lesa, and Arona ending at the southern most end of Lago Maggiore at Sesto where we stopped and walked along the Ticino River which flows out of the lake and passes through Milano. Along the way we drove the Fiat up a mountain road to a sanctuary of San Carlo Borromeo. Back in Verbania, the afternoon consisted of walks through the center, alleys and the waterfront. The gelato and a beer really hit the spot. At night a bunch of the family got together for pizza finishing around 9. By 9:30 everyone was gone. Dinners here are much later. What is great is that families live near each other and get together quite often for almost every occasion. It was another time in America which is an infant compared to ancient Italy. Tomorrow I leave for Ricca Diano d'Alba. Ciao and Buona Notte.
