Hi Everyone,
Saturday night in Milano the family got together at a Milanese restaurant for a great meal starting with risotto and ending with a nice brandy. Paolo and Maria's son Marco was there with his finace Sylvia, and Roberta and her husband and daughter. As it happens, that evening Milano won the Serie A soccer championship and it was quite a sight when we left the restaurant with horns blaring and cars and motorscooters speeding by waving hugh red and black team flags.
Next morning I got my Fiat 500 and left Milano with only a little trouble. Once on the autostrada it was easy and I made Verbania in less than 2 hours with a beautiful view of the Alps before me. I was greeted by Savina Ducale, her son Paolo and his son Lorenzo. In the afternoon we were joined by her daughter Loredana, her husband and son Allissio for an afternoon dinner of lasagna, chicken, potatoes and wine. The evening consisted of a band concert in the town piazza and later a trip over the mountain to another beautiful lake, Lago d'Orta where we met another son of Savina, Franco at his restaurant. Conversation again at home and then off to bed for a much needed rest. More soon of Monday and Tuesday in beautiful, lakeside Verbania.
