A New Day & A New Place
Siena wine bar cellar dating to pre-roman age. Room was a crypt with shelf for body behind me. Shown room by owner of bar who was very nice.
Siena morning from my room patio.
Tuscan country side along autostrada on the way to Spoleto from Siena.
Hillside Montecello not far from Spoleto in the Umbrian country. Assisi and Spello were just past this location on autostrada.
Lunch with the family in Spoleto. Valentina, Federico and Clara.
Ligurian coast from a rest stop and finally out of a tunnel. One in the distance with autostrada.
Campanelle along famous campo in Siena where the Palio is held every August.
Dinner with daughters of Don Ford of Santa Barbara and their children: Brooke and Azzura, me, Bree and Patricia. Roberto, Brooke's husband took the photo.
It is Friday afternoon in Spoleto and I am staying at their apartment tonignt and taking a train to Napoli tomorrow to meet MJ at the airport. Then by bus we go to Sorrento for 6 nights with a side trip to Ischia and the Amalfi Coast. Wednesday was my last day in Ricca and we all got together at Loradana and Luciano's house for pizza and wine. Hit the road in the morning and drove up and down through the coastal mountains of Liguria. Many long tunnels and fast speed autostradas with curves which require braking. Drove above the Cinque Terra and past Carrara, Lucca, Florence and then down to Siena. Last night was spent in Siena where I visited with sisters Bree and Brooke Ford and Brooke's husband Roberto & kids. Brooke lives out in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We had dinner along the campo then gelato. We parted after that and I walked around the area of the campo and found a wine bar where I had a great time with the 3 guys who worked there. Since I was the only customer before closing at 10 I had their undivided attention and we had a great time. The photo of their wine cellar is above. Miss everyone and looking forward to Mary Jean arriving.

All I can say is that I am thoroughly enjoying the tour. It's really (almost) like being there. Would love to be touring the countryside with you - but alas, someone has to work. I called Uncle Joe last night to wish him a happy birthday. He's still quite a character. Let me know about Sorrento. Have fun.
Hi Jim - Enjoying your photos and blog. I really need to hook you up w/Johnny Jet in CA to do blogs with him.
Looking forward to your comments about Ischia and Sorrento.
Wishing you and MJ a beautiful holiday.
Michele
