Possitano and Amalfi
With fellow limoncello maker at Le Tre Sorrelle in Possitano after a great lunch.
In Possitano it's either up or down but always beautiful.
View of Possitano Hotel on the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast.
View of coast from the SITA bus. Some turns were so sharp, the other traffic had to back up first.
Since the forecast was for rain after Monday, we decided on the Amalfi Coast instead of Pompei. Caught the bus at the train station for Possitano and had to stand in the well of the rear door the whole way but it was also the best spot for viewing. MJ was lucky and got a seat on the crowded hot bus. Now, for future Amalfi Coast travelers, Possitano is way down from the road and the driver never mentions where we are so we of course missed the Possitano stop and rode on to Amalfi. By that time it was after noon, warm and humid so we managed to get onto another bus headed back for Possitano and I made sure the driver was to tell us when to get off which is what he did.
We walked down the long road to the shore front of Possitano through narrow alleys lined by shops selling clothing, paintings and gifts. Hungry and tired we opted for Le Tre Sorrelle restaurant on the beach and had a wonderful meal. With each meal you get a glass of limoncello and that's when the conversation started with the waiter about me making limoncello at home and that's when he came back with a gallon jug of the stuff. We just had to get a picture of us in the kitchen. It's almost 8 in the evening and we are beat but will be going out for gelato tonight.
For all of you future Amalfi Coast travelers, Sorrento is the place to stay and Possitano is much better to visit than Amalfi but do take the bus for a hair-raising and spectacular ride. Buona Sera a tutti.
