Sorrento, The End
Last day for goodies here.
To the port.
Ciao Mt. Vesuvius and stay asleep.
We took the Circumvesuviana train from Sorrento to Pompei this morning. The place is quite large and was once quite beautiful. In 79 A.D., at the height of its luxury, it was destroyed and buried in one day. To walk the streets still grooved by chariot and cart wheels was eerie.
Walked the streets of Sorrento in the afternoon and bought some outstanding pesto for our pasta at lunch and went back and bought 2 more for home. Made by Barilla, it's the best I ever had but not available in the U.S.
A panino and sosfiatelles for dessert and a bottle of local wine without a label, aged about 20 minutes. This wine is not only young, the grapes are still in labor. Off to Roma tomorrow. Enjoy.
