Roma day 2

  • Jim Ducale

  • Even in the Eternal City

    The Pantheon, awsome.

    Raphael's tomb in the Pantheon

Columns were first made of brick and covered with cement and marble dust

Piazza Navona.  Named for large ship since they filled it with water and had mock sea battles here.

Piazza Navona with fountains by Bernini and Michaelangelo

Castle Sant'Angelo as seen in the movie Angels and Demons.

MJ peering up the Tiber River towards the Vatican

    Tiber River

Santa Sausana Church where we went to an English mass.  Absolutely breathtaking.

Dinner of wine, chicken marsala, lasagna, artichokes Roman style, and eggplant with tomatoes and mozzarella and with a limoncello finish.

We covered a lot of territory today but it was well worth it.  We returned to our Bangladesh holiday inn with a bottle of wine and relaxed before we went to mass and then to dinner.  It was a wonderful day.  Tomorrow we leave for another hotel for a night before we leave for Spoleto on Monday.  Roma is a little like New York City except Roma has 600 churches, the Pope and is a thriving museum of antiquity.  Give me the country life.
